Positioning

According to the manufacturer’s website (durabook.com, retrieved 20 October 2026), the Z14I-HG is built for extreme environments and AI-driven workloads. Durabook names tactical command vehicles, industrial automation, field engineering and AI-powered inspection as fields of use; for output to several screens it mentions mobile command centres, surveillance control rooms and simulation platforms. The head of the PDF states, according to the manufacturer, “Edge AI Acceleration with 682 TOPS”; we reproduce this as a manufacturer claim and have not verified it. What sets a mobile workstation apart from an ordinary notebook is explained in the article What is a mobile workstation?; Durabook itself calls the Z14I-HG a “Mobile Workstation” in the PDF.

Compared with the Durabook Z14I, the two datasheets show the Z14I-HG differing mainly in weight and graphics: 4.9 kg instead of 3.6 kg, an NVIDIA RTX 3500 Ada with 12 GB that the PDF does not mark as an option, and 5 instead of 1 HDMI 2.1 port. For the Z14I the datasheet lists a separate graphics card (NVIDIA RTX A500) as an option, and the 1200 nits brightness is optional there. Display size (14.0 inch), protection rating (IP66) and standards (MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461G) are the same on both. The Durabook Z14I-DX3 is a separate model with its own datasheet and is not described on this page.

Limits: at 4.9 kg the Z14I-HG is clearly heavier than the Durabook S15 at 2.6 kg and heavier than the Getac X600 at 4.41 kg; the PDF notes that weight varies with configuration and optional accessories. It therefore suits work that involves carrying the device a lot only to a limited degree. The PDF gives no battery runtime, no drop height, no power draw of the graphics and no docking connector; it does not state an ATEX marking either.

Ruggedness and standards

The PDF lists MIL-STD-810H with the tests shock, vibration, rain, dust, altitude, freeze/thaw, high and low temperature, temperature shock, humidity, explosive atmosphere, solar radiation, salt fog and fungus resistance, plus MIL-STD-461G (Conduction, Radiation, Conducted Susceptibility, Radiated Susceptibility). “Explosive Atmosphere” is a test method from MIL-STD-810H and not a hazardous-area approval; the PDF does not state an ATEX marking. What lies behind the test procedures is explained in the article MIL-STD-810 for laptops and tablets.

The protection rating is given as IP66 – under IEC 60529 that means dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets; immersion is not covered. Further details in the PDF: magnesium alloy chassis, port covers, operating temperature −29 °C to 63 °C (−20 °F to 145 °F), storage −51 °C to 71 °C, humidity 5 % to 95 %. The classification system for the digits is explained in the article IP protection classes.

Display and readability

The display measures 14.0 inch at 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) and is stated as a DynaVue® display with 1200 nits, sunlight readable according to the PDF. It has capacitive multi-touch; the touch mode can be selected between finger/water, glove and stylus (programmable function). The integrated webcam has 2.0 MP and a shutter.

A display is generally counted as sunlight readable from around 1000 nits; more in the article sunlight-readable displays. The PDF gives no further brightness level and no information on glass surface or anti-glare treatment.

Graphics and AI performance

The device combines Intel® Graphics with an NVIDIA® RTX 3500 Ada with 12 GB GDDR6; the PDF lists an NVIDIA® RTX 5000 Ada with 16 GB GDDR6 as an option. The PDF names generative AI, inference and 3D modelling/simulation as the target uses. Both processors (Core Ultra 7 165U and 155U) are listed with Intel® AI Boost NPU.

For screen output the PDF lists 5 HDMI 2.1 ports (Type A), one VGA port and 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports (Type C). Whether all outputs can be used at the same time and which resolutions they reach is not stated in the PDF.

Wireless and positioning

Integrated are 10/100/1000 Ethernet, Intel® Wi-Fi 7 BE200 (802.11be) and Bluetooth® 5.4; the interface list includes dual SIM (Nano SIM and eSIM). As options the PDF lists a dedicated GPS module (UBLOX-NEO-M9N), 4G LTE multi-carrier and 5G. Which mobile bands the modules cover is not stated in the PDF.

Security and operating system

The operating system is Windows® 11 Pro 64-bit. The PDF lists Intel vPro™ Technology, Secured-Core PC, TPM 2.0, a NIST-compliant BIOS, the easily removable SSD, a smart card reader, stealth mode, night vision mode and a Kensington lock; it does not explain what stealth mode and night vision mode switch. Optional are Windows Hello (with a 5.0 MP IR camera), a fingerprint scanner and an LF/HF-RFID (NFC) reader. For Secured-Core PC, Windows Hello, the IR camera and the RFID reader the PDF refers to the sales representative: availability has to be asked there.

Interfaces and expansion

The PDF lists the following interfaces; we reproduce count and assignment unchanged:

Storage consists of two removable quick-release drives; the memory has 2 slots for 32 GB up to 64 GB DDR5 (5600 MHz). The media bay takes either a DVD Super Multi drive, a second battery or a SATA SSD, according to the PDF only one of these options at a time. The keyboard is a membrane keyboard with LED backlight and two user-definable keys (P1/P2); there are also two speakers, a microphone and keys for volume and mute.

Power and battery

The main battery is a removable quick-release battery, Li-Ion, 10.8 V, 6900 mAh. As an option the PDF lists a second Li-Ion battery (10.8 V, 4700 mAh), which sits in the media bay and replaces the drive or third SSD there. The AC adapter is stated as 100–240 V, 50–60 Hz and 240 W.

The PDF gives neither a battery runtime nor a charging time. It describes the battery as removable (quick-release); whether it can be swapped during operation is not stated.
