The Getac X600 Server is a fully rugged laptop with Windows Server 2022 and an Intel Xeon processor. Getac describes it as a mobile server for use away from the data centre. The figures below are taken from the manufacturer datasheet (Getac, as at 06.08.2026; German and English versions compared line by line).
The X600 Server is built for jobs where a server cannot sit in a data centre. According to Getac's press release of 14 February 2023, examples are a mobile field command centre or maintenance work on critical infrastructure, mainly in defence and in oil and gas. For oil and gas the manufacturer's website lists remote support, asset management and field data analysis, and under defence it describes mission-critical COTS computing. According to the manufacturer's website, several independent virtual machines can be run on the device; the press release names Microsoft Hyper-V on Windows Server 2022 for this.
According to the same press release, the predecessor is the Getac X500 Server; Getac speaks of a significant performance increase but does not quantify it. Only key figures can be compared: our X500 Server page lists IP65, 8 GB memory (optional up to 64 GB), a 500 GB SATA hard drive, RAID 5 with up to 5 × 1 TB, an 8700 mAh battery and GTX 1050 graphics, and there is no longer a manufacturer datasheet for it. The X600 Server states IP66, 32 GB memory (optional up to 128 GB), a 1 TB PCIe SSD, up to 16 TB in the X-Bay, two batteries of 6900 mAh each and Intel UHD Graphics; the PDF does not list an option with a dedicated graphics card. Compared with its sister model Getac X600, display, IP66, weight of 4.41 kg and operating temperature match. The X600 offers Core i5, Core i7 and Xeon processors, the X600 Server only the Xeon W-11865MRE, plus 32 GB instead of 16 GB of memory as standard and the X-Bay. For drop height, the X600 datasheet states 1.2 m, while that of the X600 Server states 0.9 m (3 ft) in the specification row.
What the device is not suited for: the X600 Server is a laptop chassis with a server operating system, not a rack server. The PDF does not mention rack mounting, redundant power supplies or a figure for continuous operation (such as MTBF); for continuous rack operation the device is therefore not documented and not the use Getac describes. It also remains open whether ECC memory can be fitted: the 2023 press release names it as an option, the current PDF does not. The press release also names a different processor (Xeon W-11855M) than the PDF (W-11865MRE); on this page the PDF applies. Weight ranges from 4.41 kg to 8.51 kg depending on the version.
The datasheet lists the certifications IP66, MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G. Under IEC 60529, IP66 means dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets from any direction; immersion is not covered (background in the article IP66 in detail). For the temperature figure, a footnote in the PDF says it was tested by an independent test lab following MIL-STD-810H. MIL-STD-461G concerns electromagnetic compatibility (MIL-STD-461 in rugged devices); on this line the PDF notes that the MIL-STD-461 power adapter (230 W) is sold separately.
The operating temperature is -29 °C to 63 °C, storage temperature -51 °C to 71 °C, humidity up to 95 % RH non-condensing. The device is vibration resistant and, according to the specification row, 0.9 m (3 ft) drop resistant. A footnote gives 4 ft for the X600 Server without RAID; the PDF does not say explicitly whether the lower value applies to the RAID version. Plan on 0.9 m for it to be safe.
The display measures 15.6 inch (TFT LCD, Full HD, 1920 x 1080) and reaches 1000 nits. Getac calls it a LumiBond display with sunlight readable technology; from around 1000 nits a display is generally counted as readable outdoors (sunlight readable displays). The PDF also lists a protection film for the display.
A capacitive multi-touch screen is optional. Without it you operate the device with the touchpad with two buttons and the LED backlit membrane keyboard with numeric keypad. The PDF does not give further panel details (such as IPS) or glove or rain operation of the touchscreen.
The datasheet lists the following interfaces. We reproduce the list unchanged, because equipment and weight can differ between configurations:
For expansion the PDF lists a smart card reader, optionally ExpressCard 54 or PCMCIA Type II (mutually exclusive) and an SD card reader. In the multimedia bay an optional DVD super multi drive or Blu-ray super multi drive is possible, again only one of the two. The X-Bay optionally takes Enterprise PCIe SSDs of 4 TB (1 TB × 4) and can be expanded to 16 TB (2 TB × 8); it can be managed as RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 5. On the version without RAID, RAID 5 requires three storage devices. The 2nd serial port replaces the VGA port.
The sources differ on storage sizes: the manufacturer's website and the press release give up to 22 TB, the cover of the German PDF version up to 8 TB for the RAID expansion unit (the English version does not contain this point). The specification table with the values above is authoritative. By calculation, three internal storage devices of 2 TB each plus 16 TB in the X-Bay make 22 TB.
The PDF lists two batteries of 10.8 V and typically 6900 mAh (minimum 6600 mAh) and an AC adapter of 230 W (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz); two more batteries are optional. According to a footnote, the X600 Server RAID is supplied with four batteries and the 230 W adapter. According to the manufacturer's website, all batteries can be removed without tools and swapped during operation (swappable batteries and hot swap); the PDF says nothing about this.
Runtime remains open: the PDF gives no operating time. In addition, the accessories list shows a 150 W power adapter as standard while the power row states 230 W; according to a footnote the 150 W adapter is compatible with the X600 Server. According to a footnote, the Thunderbolt port does not support USB power delivery.
As security features the PDF lists TPM 2.0, Kensington lock, smart card reader, Intel vPro® Technology and Getac Disk Wipe; Absolute Persistence® is optional. According to the manufacturer's website, all storage drives can be removed without tools (smart card readers and TPM). A restriction applies to Getac Disk Wipe: NIST SP 800-88 Purge is not supported on the hardware-based RAID configuration.
The Getac Utility is pre-installed; Absolute Secure Endpoint and Absolute Secure Access are optional. The versions differ here: the German one lists both under pre-installed software, the English one names Absolute Secure Access under optional software. The operating system is Windows Server 2022.
As standard accessories the datasheet lists two batteries, a power adapter (150 W, 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) and a capacitive stylus with tether. Optionally available:
The datasheet states 4.41 kg for the X600 Server (412 x 322 x 52.5 mm) and 8.51 kg for the X600 Server RAID (412 x 322 x 108.8 mm). According to a footnote, both values depend on configuration and accessories.
IP66, additionally certified to MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G. The operating temperature is -29 °C to 63 °C.
Yes, one Thunderbolt™ 4 Type-C. According to a footnote it does not support USB power delivery. In addition there are 4× USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and 2× LAN (RJ45).
Memory 32 GB DDR4, optionally 64 GB or 128 GB. Data storage: 1 TB Enterprise PCIe SSD, optionally 2 TB, plus an optional second and third storage of 1 TB or 2 TB each; the X-Bay optionally takes 4 TB (1 TB × 4) up to 16 TB (2 TB × 8).
The datasheet states Windows Server 2022. The 2023 press release names Microsoft Hyper-V in this context.
